Warlock

Description

Level 3 - Ritualist's Tool

You gain the Passive Effect "Versatile Weapon". You may cast Rituals during combat after successfully completing a Rest while chanting at normal speaking volume or louder throughout the entire Rest. This Ritual can be interrupted by being attacked, moving, or taking any other Effect by any source. The Ritual effect takes place when you finish Resting, which you declare with the "Pulse x" tagline. You may only Pulse cast immediate effect Rituals and Pulse Rituals - not Persistent Ritual Effects such as Passives or Field Effects. Each Pulsed Ritual lowers your maximum Spirit by 2, which restores at the end of the current game shift.

Level 5 - Master of Rites

You may choose a Warlock Rite to gain the Pulse Rituals listed within it. The following Warlock Rites are available - Rite of Beguilement, Rite of Benevolence, and Rite of Malediction. You may cast the Rituals within your chosen Rite at your character's level and lower as Pulse Rituals only. These Rituals may not be used to Counter effects.

Level 9 - Baleful Weapon

You may Add Drain to the damage with basic attacks delivered in melee with your Versatile Weapon for 1 additional Spirit per attack. You may Add Drain to attacks that already cost Spirit, such as 2 Hits or 3 Hits, for no additional Spirit, but must still use the 1 Spirit as usual to activate the attack itself.

Level 13 - Soul Offering

Slaying a creature or player with your Versatile Weapon refunds one of the Spirit you have used to cast Pulse Rituals until you successfully finish a Rest. You can continue to refund Spirit up to your normal maximum Spirit minus any Spirit used to Concentrate on Persistent Ritual Effects. This refunded Spirit cannot be used to cast additional Pulse Rituals, which always lowers your maximum Spirit from its current low value - and may only be used for normal Effects. Each time you successfully complete a Rest, you reset your maximum Spirit to the lowest value you have reached from Pulse Rituals.

Level 17 Heroic Action - Self Sacrifice

You may reduce your Spirit below 0 by using a Pulse Ritual while at 1 Spirit. Any time your Spirit is below 1, you may Call "Slay" to instantly drop a non-player, non-Epic target to the Slain status. When you do, you are also Slain. If you are Revived before being left to your Fate, you negate the maximum Spirit penalty of all Pulse Rituals you have cast so far. If you do this a second time in one game shift, you are instantly left to your Fate and immediately lower the World Tendency by -2 with no way to mitigate this effect, though are Immune to Fate - Death for this draw.

Appendix:

Pulse Ritual -

Special Rituals in the Warlock Rites list or Rituals with an Immediate Effect that are cast in combat by a Warlock. Beneficial Pulse Rituals affect all allies who can hear the tagline and choose to take the Effect. Detrimental Pulse Rituals affect all enemies and all Flagged Players who can hear the tagline, and must either be taken or be mitigated by countering or immunity. Detrimental Pulse Rituals may not be Dodged, Withstood, Deflected, or in any other way mitigated or avoided.

Versatile Weapon -

You are able to use boffer-safe props interchangeably regardless of any Equipment tag used. A Versatile Weapon functions as a melee weapon or unarmed attack of its size, as well as an instrument, projectile weapon, or spell foci. Additionally, you may use the proficiencies for a weapon of your boffer's size interchangeably. For example: light size weapon lengths count for Light Weapon and Wand proficiencies, medium size weapon lengths count for Medium Weapon and Scepter proficiencies, and heavy/great size weapon lengths count for Heavy Weapon and Staff proficiencies.
