New adventurers setting out into the world can have it rough, but this can be alleviated with a little help from someone a bit more seasoned. All new players start out as potential members of the Spanner’s Guild: a nonexclusive organization that organizes adventuring groups and provides aid to those just setting out on their journeys. When you’re below level 6 and are on Scheduled Content (Adventures or Field Battles), you can be mentored by another player that is above level 5 who agrees to mentor you.
At the beginning of Scheduled Content, when the Narrator arrives to gather players, they will announce the APL of the content and the corresponding base Body and Spirit of that level. At this point players should formally note their Party Actions and if they are participating in the Spanner’s Initiative. If a player is being mentored by a Spanner, their base Body and Spirit are increased as if their level were the Average Player Level (APL) or their mentor's level, whichever is lower, so long as they remain within visible range of their mentor.
For example, if the APL is 12 and you are being mentored, your Body is set to 5 and your Spirit is set to 7. You still benefit from any active bonuses to your Body, such as Armor or Use Armor, but do not gain additional abilities that your class would unlock by that level. In effect, this allows you to survive longer and use the abilities you have unlocked more often before having to rest. Once the Scheduled Content is over, the Spanner’s Initiative bonus will fall off, returning you to your original Body and Spirit.
So, get out there, make new friends, and triumph in your journeys throughout the Realms and Shards of Orn!
